Palm Wax

I've been working with a new (to me) kind of wax... Palm Wax
Palm wax is an all-natural, renewable resource that is obtained from the oil palm in Southeast Asia. Due to its environmentally friendly attributes, palm wax offers a whole new choice for candle lovers. It is grown as a commercial crop in well managed and regulated estates since the early 1900’s. The oil palm produces fruit in bunches which are harvested, and sent to palm oil mills where the oils are extracted, sterilized, clarified and purified into crude palm oil. The crude oil is then sent to palm oil refineries where it is processed further into products such as cooking oil, shortening, cocoa butter substitutes, non-dairy creamers, soaps, and of course everybody’s favorite – Palm Wax.

The best part... it makes these beautiful crystalline designs in the wax as hardens. Just like snowflakes, each marking is unique.

OK, so this has nothing to do with candles…

Recently our pastor (also my husband) asked a group, “In what way(s) do you want God to change you?”  My answer automatically formed into 6 bullets, which all just happen to start with the same letter – I’m not sure why.  I think this happened partly because I’m a “list person” and I always think in bullets, but it can also be attributed to living with a pastor for 28+ years.   At any rate, here they are…

I want God to help me to be more:
Loving – put people first, above things or the task at hand, to not look at people as an interruption, to remember how much God loves me, and share that love.
Lively – energetic, enthusiastic, excited about Jesus – not the long-faced “suffering servant” but a joyful person, living out an abundant life in Christ.
Loud – proclaim the gospel unashamedly, never passing up an opportunity.
Legit – authentic, genuine – does my Walk match my Talk?
Linked – connected in a real & genuine way to other believers, to not shy away from people who need me because it may be too time-consuming, complicated, or emotionally draining.
Looking – Always expectantly looking for God at work around me.

So, how about you?  In what way(s) do you want God to change you?

"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." ~Ephesians 5:1-2

Fundraiser FUN

Your group can earn up to 50% of total sales with Fragrant Offering Candles Fundraisers

Thanks to Fragrant Offering, our cheer squad

raised enough from our "Fragrant Offering"

fundraiser to go on an end of the year trip.

Working with Gina Dees was a pleasure and

our order was delivered on time with

everything we ordered correct. We had

nothing but good feedback about the

fragrances. The candles were wonderful and

seem to burn forever. The wax warmer blocks

are strong, but not overbearing at all. It was

the only fundraiser like this that I have been

involved in that personalized the products

with our school logo. Very impressive! I would

highly recommend Fragrant Offering for a

fundraiser for your organization.

Over Yonder

"Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 (RSV)

It's so good to see a dream come true, or at least make progress toward it.  At the beginning of this year, I set a goal of finding another couple of local places to sell my candles.

In July, I saw a friend's Facebook post about how she was going to rent a booth to sell her handmade photo albums in a new crafters outlet called "Over Yonder" here in my town.  Next thing you know, I'll be moving in on Aug. 31 & the Grand Opening is Sep. 3rd.  So now I'm making Candles as fast as I possibly can!

A couple of nights ago, we had a vendor meeting at the new store to give us a chance to meet each other and get necessary information about the Grand Opening.  One of the vendors I met told me about another Art & Craft boutique in a nearby town...a store that just happens to be looking for a candlemaker!  I say, "just happens to be" tongue-in-cheek, because I know God has orchestrated both of these situations.

I praise Him and give Him the glory for any success I will have in these new places.

"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Proverbs 16:3 (RSV)

What’s a Gross?

My Dad and “Hee-Haw” have about the same sense of humor – both belong in the cornfield – if you know what I mean!  I was raised on Hee-Haw & maybe the Disney movie on Sunday night & classic country music.

As I was growing up, I loved to sneak and listen to my Dad's records when he wasn’t around.   I learned to appreciate Porter Wagoner, (and all his rhinestones) Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.  I loved how their songs told stories of love and life – happiness and heartache.
As a kid in the late seventies & early eighties, the word “gross” (among many other words) was taking on a new meaning.  When we said it, we meant gory, bloody, dirty, sickening, etc.  But without fail, every time one of us would say “Gross!!” around my Dad, he would inevitably respond “What--a hundred and forty-four?”  He thought he was so funny.

Tonight, my aching back knows exactly what a gross is … 144 – Aloe Vera scented Soy Wax Mini-Melts.  They’ll be on their way to Peoria , IL tomorrow.  My house smelled so wonderful while I was pouring and packaging these, and it still does.  I love my night job!!!
