SMELLING is BELIEVING!

I try my best to always relate my wonderful fragrances with pictures and words, but I know sometimes you still just need to smell them in person to really appreciate my products.  Many of my online friends have asked if there is a physical location where you can go and actually smell my products.  Well, now there is!  If you live in the Palestine, TX area, you can go to Old Magnolia Mercantile downtown.  I have a sampling of my various products there in a booth near the sandwich counter.  You can purchase whatever you like right there in the store.  You can also contact me if you want to see more or have any questions.

"Triple-Scented" Candles?

Fragrant Offering candles contain as much fragrance as the wax can safely hold without causing burning problems and the soot that comes from too much fragrance.  All wax has a maximum amount of fragrance that it can safely absorb, usually about 8-10% of the weight of the wax.  If a candle has more fragrance than the wax can absorb the flame will spit, sputter and not want to stay lit.  The liquid of the fragrance is literally extinguishing the flame.  Even if your flame is steady a candle can still have too much fragrance for the wax and soot will result.  Triple scented candles are either over-saturated or a marketing ploy, depending on the supplier.

FIRSTS are always memorable

I did my FIRST home fragrance party about a week ago & I had a blast!!!   I got to enjoy the company of good friends & make some new ones, too!  I talked a little bit about myself & how I got into making candles.  We played fun games with (good as CASH coupon) prizes!  The hostess got lots of FREE stuff, too!  Overall, I think it went well & everybody enjoyed themselves.

Fundraiser Flyer

Owner Gina Dees, has been happily married to her favorite pastor, Rick Dees for 28 years.  Together they have 3 wonderful sons, 2 beautiful daughters-in-law & one precious granddaughter. They enjoy living in the pineywoods of East Texas, calling Palestine, TX their home for the last 21 years.  Fragrant Offering Candles has been around since October 2001, our desire is to bring you amazing quality in home fragrance and bath & body products.

Soy Wax is fast gaining popularity. Soy is a clean-burning natural wax which may be used without additives necessary for changing the color, hardness, or clarity. Unlike paraffin wax, soy wax has natural oils that mix well with fragrant oils. Therefore, soy wax holds scent better than paraffin wax and shrinks very little during the candle making process.  Soy wax is nontoxic and produces measurably less soot than other waxes, when burned correctly.  Soy is a completely natural and renewable resource and helps support the American farmer.

How it all began (part 2)

As an adult, I have always loved burning candles.  Of course I love my house to smell good.  But I also  love the ambience of a warm, flickering flame, but I noticed that many of the candles that I bought would not burn evenly, leaving much of the wax wasted in the jar.  I found myself constantly digging, re-melting & re-shaping all of my half-used candles, trying to get just a little more use out of them.  I just couldn’t stand to throw away all that perfectly good, wonderful smelling candle wax.
I always wondered if I could make my own candles, so one day I did it! I bought a beginner votive candle kit & I was hooked!  I have been infatuated ever since.

Since that first beginner kit, I have disovered Soy Wax.  One of the many reasons soy is so wonderful is because the melting point is very low, causing the candle to burn slowly and evenly all the way down until there is nothing left.  No wasted wax at all!  You get every penny worth when you buy a soy candle!

I have branched out into other bath and body products over the years, too.  I have tried my hand at glycerin soap, lotion, bath salts, fizzing bath bombs, salt scrubs, smellie jellies, all shapes and sizes of pillar candles, air freshener spray & fragrance lamp oil.  Just let me know if there’s anything on this list you’d like to try.
I’m having a great time doing what I love & my wish is the same for you.

Follow Me?

In trying to get my name out there & increase my sales, I've been trying more internet-based information tools.  So far, I have a personal Facebook -- which I am trying not to clog up with business stuff.  I have a seperate Facebook page for Fragrant Offering Candles - which I'm using for people who are truly interested in the Candle side of me.  This Blog-site you're looking at right now is fairly new to me and I must say, it's been a ton of fun to design.  The latest chapter in my exercise of bravery is a Facebook Fan page.  Next challenge.... Twitter!

Sometimes my time spent on the internet feels a little like I'm in a house of mirrors!  I'm having a little trouble remembering my own identity sometimes, but that's OK, I'm still having fun with it all.

So please look around, take a few minutes & "follow" me!  It's easy!

How it all began (part 1)

I have always been crafty – it’s my mother’s fault.  My mother and her friends were a crazy bunch of stay-home moms who loved to get together & go garage sale-ing, play cards or sometimes just sit around and gossip & cackle like a bunch of hens.  Sometimes the kids would get to join them in the latest fad in crafting: embroidery, plaster of paris, necklaces made of paper clips that were wrapped in self-adhesive shelf paper, crackle-painted vases, crochet & the list goes on…  I remember them making these “flowers” by taking pieces of synthetic fur, teasing it like a beehive hairdo and spraying it with hairspray.  They would then attach it to a stem.  The finished product resembled a giant rosebud the size of a grapefruit.  These “flowers” were then arranged in a spectacular array of those trendy, 70’s colors: Harvest Gold, Avocado Green & Rust. :)  One of my favorite crafts was candle holders where you take a coke or wine bottle, melt crayons and let them drip down the outside of the bottle.  Thus began my love affair with melted wax...
